“Thanjavur dolls (Toys) are made with plaster of Paris, Wood pulp and the clay obtained from the banks of river Cauvery.
It is produced on the basis of gravitational force used to be produced in pairs.
The dolls are made of paper and provided with rounded bottoms of clay and the weight of the clay at the bottom makes them assume always an erect position.
The Tanjavur dolls are done only on Raja- Rani Pair and in no other motif, the dolls are ever made into.”
