Description
The carpals of the jackfruit are thick, long and extra sweet. The sugars are totally soluble even at low rainfalls. The Paffuti jackfruits have cream-colored bulbous pulps with thick flesh and fibrous interior as a result of which the pulp can be extracted easily. The pulp remains fresh and maintains a consistency in its texture for a long period of time in comparison to other places where they have thin flesh which turn golden and start to deteriorate. Panruti Jackfruits are also known for their size as they are huge and also are very heavy (average weight is l5kgs). A jumbo jackfruit needs at least 2 people to cany it. They are great attraction and Kodai festival held every year on Cuddalore beach displays fruits that weigh around 70 to 100 kg.Being a low rainfall area – Panruti gets 1,500 mm of rain – the total soluble sugars of the fruits are high
